78 supercab seat cable broke

I'm trying to fix a broken front seat cable release. The cable seems hard to find in stores. Any suggestions? :-huh

You can make a new one out of any wire. Use some bailing wire or similar, it works fine. ;)

hi brian thanks thought about just using form wire or as you said bailing type wire. what about connections ford had those angle bent fittings to go through the lever and locking fitting? guess a few wraps around itself would work.

Junk yard to get a OEM replacement. What ever you use, make sure it has some flexibility about it.

I cut up a metal clothes hanger and made mine. I took that portion of the bench seat out and pulled the seat cover off. Gave both exposed ends that bolt in a nice new coat of black paint. Turned out nice.

Or...you can waltz down to your local FoMoCo Dealer and buy a new wire. Or...buy it from an FTE sponsor and save a few bucks.

numberDummy thanks for the part #. Our local Ford dealer is hard to work with still waiting for them to get back on a rebuilt motorcraft 400 price. seems they are understaffed.

Understaffed? Yeah right. You might believe that horse dung, but I know better.

Where in CA are you located?

Some dealers don't give a damn about older vehicles, make up excuses just to shine you on.

So...why bother with them? It shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour to get the engine info from Ford.

Order the wire from FTE sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM (Ed Olson, parts manager of Horizon Ford in Seattle WA) and save a few bucks.

And...ask Ed about the rebuilt engine. He sold one to an FTE member in Las Vegas awhile back, ordered it out of WA, had it drop shipped to Vegas.

Hey.
If you don't mind me asking how did you remove just that one section of seat? I've got the exact same thing and I'm looking for a simple fix that doesn't involve hunting down a seat in the junk yard as the pickings are slim around here!

Sorry for bringing up and old topic!

Thanks!
