Tagged a highboy

Just bought myself a highboy f250.
Its a 1974 frame that had a 79 cab and front clip put on.
Has hydralic steer, front drums, closed knuckle, 4.11 gears(blown front pinion due to improper pinion bearing shimming), divorced X-case, front leafs with the highboy special(bent cross bar), np435, and a 360 engine.
The PO didnt even know a thing about the truck he owned for 10 years.
Has a c5ae 4bbr intake. d2te heads, holley 650 dp(shocking find for me)
Came with new cab corners, a new clutch, flexplate and throwout bearing still new in box.
Someone removed the old 3/4 ton leafs in the rear and added 10 pack 1/2 ton leafs that could support a semi truck.
The guy wanted 1200. i stated it needed a different front diff. offered 700 he turned it down. i walked halfway to my truck and offered 800 and no more.
and you can figure the rest out.
Plan on putting in a 4bbr 390 or 410, tci street fighter c6, a front diff from a 78 or 79 with disk brakes, open knuckle, then put in a 79 style steering box.
Will have a cam, headers, Alumi intake, the 650 dp, dura spark 2, holley blue fuel pump, and lots of other good stuff.
Plan on making it a daily driver for the winter so the 6.0L wont get a bad stage of the romps. but as soon as warm weather hits the parts will fly and mud bogging season will begin.

I assume you mean the front "crossmember" under the bumper? that invariably gets a tow chain hooked to it and gets bent all to hell.

I have seen this too many time, in fact had to spend 45 min explaining it to a buddy of mine who is apparently not the brightest crayon in the box.
