Big auction in northern IL.
They've been drooling over this auction at the HAMB for a couple of days. I know there are quite a few Il. guys here that could make this auction. It's close enough I could make it from SE WI. but I'm a cheap SOB and won't spend $20 just to view the auction and know I won't have as deep of pockets as most attending will have.

I wish I had the patience to sit thru an auction as long as that one will be. The HAMB boys are jazzed about all those A's.

My gosh. A three day auction with two days to preview. There will be a CROWD, and many with big rolls of large bills. Outta my league, but it'd be worth going to watch. Stu

You'd think an auction being held on a Thursday and Friday would limit the size of the crowd because those are work days. It's not true, I once attended a tractor auction, there was an awesome F-7 tow truck in it, it was held on a Wednesday and I thought the crowd would be light. Was I wrong. There were people from at least four other states and they were shoulder to shoulder.

Couple years back, they had that big auction in NW MN. My coworker friend went up there, and he said guys from TX came all the way up with empty semi trucks and trailers. I take it they mean serious business, lol.

We have a local auction company about an hour south of Albuquerque. They have an auction twice a year in the spring and fall. Mostly farm equipment but there are some vehicles and some heavy equipment. It draws lots of people from surrounding states, both buyers and sellers.
I've seen semis and large goosenecks rollin with a full load before the auction only to leave again a few days later fully loaded with completely different stuff....LOL There's several guys that bring trailers full of the little Ford tractors. I guess they buy them up throughout the midwest for under a grand a piece. They typically sell out here for between 3 and 4 grand....its a mazing what a coat of paint will do. They are fun to go to though Bobby |
Talk about way out of my league.
I mean really $30K for Arizona license plates!!! 6033 Arizona License Plates $29,900.00 Sold Who spends that much on license plates, How long would it take to sell those to make a profit. I must be missing something. I bet the immense auction caused prices to go pretty high. I'm probably just mad because Missouri plates only went for $2K. :) |
Almost
$4mill in sales.... Marilyn Monroe playboy went for$8625!!!! |
Only proves there's a lot of money out there, maybe not a lot of brains, but a lot of money.
|
I'm surprised the really old Harleys and such went for so much; I wonder if it was museums bidding against each other? The 4-cyl Henderson for $60k+? You could buy 3 similar to it, already restored, for that money.
15% buyer's premium... makes eBay look like a soft touch. |
