Early Ford Mixer Trucks
 

I was looking at the "oddballs" post, and it got me to thinking.

My grandfather has a few old mixer trucks (used to have a batch plant) just shoved off and parked or off on blocks back in the woods. I've no idea what model they are, but I'm almost certain they are ford (circa 1950-60). I've not been out there to look in a few years, going to make a trip there soon and check it out.

Does anyone ever try and restore these?

Nope! But I could use some more yard art... Just kidding Hahaha

While we're waiting on his pics, here is one that my buddy snapped from a moving car over near Boone, NC last fall. It's the only one I've seen so far. So I'm definitely interested in his pics. I'm not sure if this one is original or a late-model chassis/mixer with a bonus built cab.

I've seen two around here that were restored. Both were 48-50 COEs. They were restored by the local cement mix distributor. I had pictures of them, but can't find them. One is posted in this oddball thread. It's the yellow cement mixer truck with "Ready Mix" lettered in red on the doors.

Yeah they are probably about that size. I remember asking as a kid how big they were and my dad said 1 1/4 -2 yards. The trucks themselves not being much larger than a 1 ton.

I might just have to drive out there this weekend, though I'd feel horrible. Hey grandpa, just out here to look at your old trucks! My dad runs a septic business off his land (used to be my Grandfathers) so I could probably just tag along.

I'll see if I can get you guys some pictures. Who knows what else is out there. The last time I looked I was looking for sports cars and the like, had no interest in the dozens of trucks there. He had a fire a while back and sent a bunch of stuff to scrap, so there's not as much left as there once was.

Can you spot the mixer hiding in the grape vines? Its a 69 peterbilt model 241

2nd picture was taken about 6years ago ... another year and I don't think

you will be able to find it.

now there is something I would love to drag home..at least no sun fading paint !!
