2003 Expedition NOTTO SE HID conversion kit

Hey guys, So heres the deal. My friend bought an HID kit a while back and after installing them they didnt work so we thought they were defective and got replacements. those didnt work either. So we said screw it and returned them and now 3 months later I am wanting to buy the NOTTO SE kit from carid.com and was wondering if there is a fuse I need to change or if Conversion kits do not work with Expeditions or what...my guess is that I need a bigger fuse but I dont want to put to big of a fuse or to small so If you guys know whats wrong let me know. Thanks. :)

Did the fuse blow when your friend installed the kits?

charlie2272 09-01-2011 12:42 PM

Nope. They didn't work so we thought we blew it but the stock lights worked.

Then the only possibilities are you got two bum units or the installation was flawed.

Post a link to the mentioned hid units, and I will chime in on it. I've put a few units in for my friends, and not a single problem.

Most kits are plug and play.

Ive installed tons of kits. All DDM and a few ebay kits but are all the same wiring.

Something wasnt wired right if neither kit worked.

I just installed a DDM hi/low headlight kit and a DDM fog light kit on my Navi. And all was plug and play besides drilling couple spots for a ground.

Make sure they are grounded good. One of mine were not good and would flicker or wouldnt ignite. I reground it and no problem since.

My wifes was a straight plug and play on her 2007 Mazda 3. Shes had hers 2+ years and not one problem.

Okay I looked at it but I dont see a ground wire anywhere....is it on the relay? I dont have that screwed into anything because I found a good place to set it.

charlie2272 03-04-2012 09:33 PM

I got them to work a while ago but one turns a little pinkish and the other stays blue....I have gone through 4 kits from the same website through warranty and all the same thing so I dont know whats going on here

96mustangV6 03-05-2012 11:46 AM

Is it the high/low kit. I have 2 kits. 1 harness has 2 grounds by the plugs to the ballast. And the other kit has a ground that goes back to the tetminal.

Usually pink means light is goin out. But if all 4 did that it seems somethings wired wrong. What bulb are u using. And ill see if i can find a wire diagram.

charlie2272 03-05-2012 12:39 PM

It is just the low kit bulb 9006 and its the 15k lights

96mustangV6 03-05-2012 05:55 PM

15k wow. My wifes are 12k and are really purple. Mine are 10k headlights with 5k fogs. My 10k are dark blue. The higher the "k" the harder it is on ur eyes. I noticed long trips in my wifes 3 it starts to strain my eyes.

But uf its single should just be straight plug and play. No harness. Is it 55 watt or 35watt.

PM me ur phone # and i can call/text u through it. I dont get on here to much.

charlie2272 03-05-2012 07:08 PM

They are 35 and i think i may have fixed it they had a 30 amp fuse and i started moving one fuse down and when i got to 10 they seemed to work fine i will check in about an hour but hopefully it worked

96mustangV6 03-05-2012 08:07 PM

Ive never changed fuses. That shouldnt matter. The stock head lights are 65 watt and you went to 35 watt. So ur not overliading the fuse. It shouldnt matter at all.

Bein just low beam and 35 watt should just be +/- in the stock headlight harness and then out of ballast to light. On high/low bulbs and 55 watt bulbs you run a complete seprate harness.
