Coil Over Plugs

I realize this is a subject that gets brought to attention time after time, but my 99 f250 5.4 is starting to have the symptoms of bad coil packs. Does anyone recommend one brand over the other? For instance, ebay has a "no name brand" set of 8 for around $140, and my local schucks/napa has a name brand for around $300.

Do all the brands produce the same spark? Or are some hotter than others?

I don't drive the truck often, and I can limp it along until i need to change them, but the sooner the better.

Thank you in advance. :-X22

Yes this subject is covered extensively if you do a bit of research. Also they are usually called coil-on-plug or cops.
Summit has some options:
Search Results for coil on plugs - SummitRacing.com

They claim that their own racing ones put out 400 percent more power than stock.
Realistically it is up to your preference and your budget meshed with what you are running.

Next time give us an idea of what you are running like stock, some mods, fuel type etc.

Welcome to the forums.

The truck is basically stock, just bolt ons. I have cold air and exhaust, and i just run regular gas.

You will get NO benefit whatsoever from a supposedly higher output COP!
You can get a set of 8 from uneeksupply or global .Both on ebay for right about 100 bucks.
If your not going to by the cheep ebay COPs. Best bet is to go with stock motorcraft from rockauto.com for the best price. :)

Yep, what Phil said...

Very well stated Phil, and I personally know that he is speaking from experience.

I just bought the set of 10 from Global off of Ebay. Total for all 10 plus shipping was $97.25.
I replaced all 8 of them and so far so good. I bought the set of 10 so that I have 2 extra if the time ever comes to replace a bad one.
Truck runs just as good as the day it was new.
Do like Phil said and save your money.

Good Luck
