Bored out motor??

Just a train of thought, gas motors do it all the time have you done it or heard of someone boreing out a motor and oversized pistons?? This might be a waste of time thread but just curious. Now that i am starting to work my way into money i can look into these mods.:-jammin

Talyn 08-19-2011 06:38 PM

no substantial gains to it.

Boring is only useful to us if the cylinders are oval'd out.

PowerstrokeRyan 08-19-2011 06:47 PM

oh, i always was told that nothing beats boreing a motor out but i guess my dad doesnt know what he is talking about lol

Talyn 08-19-2011 06:49 PM

It's different with our trucks. Nothing to gain with it cause its such high compression.

I'm sure if your shooting for 800 hp it could make a difference.
But for normal use, I dont' think you'll see any.
I was gonna do 20 over on my block for the same thoughts as you did, and asked a few guys and found out its a waste of money. heh.

PowerstrokeRyan 08-19-2011 06:59 PM

well thanks, its nice to know. reps sent, just cause i dont know what they are for lol

Green beans!

I'm not the green bean king
but I sure am the Red Bean king. =)

For super high horse power numbers, itl do good. But youd see little to no gain for a DD. Now on a gas engine, its a different story. I have a mustang with a 289 thats bored over, and it definately makes a difference. I think like talyn said, it has to do with the compression.
And WTF, whered KEITH STONE GO??

Brown Falcon 08-19-2011 11:22 PM

Yeah, better to spend that money on an intercooler, head studs, water/meth injection, turbo, injectors, traction bars, chip, intake, downpipe, exhaust.... and the list goes on...

Out dated or not il stick with my 7.3. Thanks for your service and dont worry we will still be here when you get back and help mark off the mods on your list

Talyn 08-20-2011 07:43 AM

I'ma have a fleet of 7.3's by the time I'm 40. I made a promise to myself.
That and a warehouse full of OBS body parts.

Brown Falcon 08-20-2011 03:21 PM

Yep, won't get me into a 6.7.... gotta stick with the 7.3, might have a 2011 full interior in my '95 by then, but then engine is staying!

Ford4Life7.3 08-20-2011 06:53 PM
