September BS Thread

Since I'm always forgetting that we start a new thread at the beginning of every month, I thought I'd start it early. :D :-X04 :-wink

This way when people start to post in it, I already posted here, so I'll get my email notification as a reminder. BWAWHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :-X24

Yes, I am not well. :-X18 :-X22

I went outside to see if it cooled off after seeing the title of this thread. It's still hot. What a ripoff.

Otherwise, been a great September so far. :D

ROFLMAO!!!! Ya, no such luck here either. :( It was worth a try though. LOL

Have a awesome Thursday!:D

Hi Kameronth :-wink

67 Olfthfl 09-01-2011 09:53 AM

Michelle - Sweet!...Thanks for giving them my number. I hope to hear from them soon! (Although I'm out of time on my cell right now. They can leave a V.M. & I can check it from my home phone & call them back.) :-jammin

R1_Demon 09-01-2011 12:58 PM

Howdy all! :-wink

Happy September! Yea! I remembered to post here today! Probably because I started the thread and got an email. LOL!!!

Donna - As for my interview...I found out yesterday that I got placed on the "maybe" list. :( Reason being is because I was "monotone and mechanical" in my answers. They said I definitely have the experience and all that, but I guess they wanted Suzy Sunshine to answer the interview questions or something. But, she said that doesn't mean I'm out of contention. So, supposedly I'll most likely have a final answer on Friday afternoon once they look through the rest of their interviews/candidates. So, I guess if the rest of them don't stack up to fill up the positions, they will reconsider me. We are praying that they reconsider me and say yes. :-X22 So, I should know more late Friday.

And as I posted on the Aug thread...my lasik pre-op went great yesterday and I'm a perfect candidate for lasik. So, my surgery is scheduled for 5:40 pm today. I can't wait! So far the vision center/doctor I have gone to has been awesome. :-X22

YEAH!...You remembered! I'm proud of you Mat! :-X04 (Aren't emails great?)

Monotone & mechanical? Are you fricken kidding me? What do they expect when people are being interviewed by a couple of prudes...happy go lucky? Maybe they need better personalities! Well, let me know what they decide.

Congratulations on your pre-op! How long is the recovery time after the surgery? Was it painful? I can hardly wait to hear the results & what your vision was before/after. :-X06

Good evening everyone.

Good luck with your surgery Mat. Let us know how things look without having to use contacts or glasses.

Pulled the carpet on my truck today to prepare for swapping transmissions and found this <a href="http://s536.photobucket.com/albums/ff324/jarod17_photos/?action=view&amp;current=HPIM0484.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff324/jarod17_photos/HPIM0484.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I guess it is time to speed up the engine swap from my '96 to my '71.

Good Friday morning everyone.:)
Looking forward to a 3 day weekend!
What are your plans?

67 Olfthfl 09-02-2011 08:24 AM

Nice picture Jeff!
I can see why you want to get to work on your truck. Hope it goes smoothly.

R1_Demon 09-02-2011 03:58 PM

Jeff - Ouch! That doesn't look like a good thing! :-( Hope you know how to weld in new floor pans. I sure don't, so you would definitely be one step ahead of me. LOL

Well, my surgery went perfectly last night. I got out of surgery and left for home around 8:15 pm or so. When I woke up this morning at 7 am for my checkup at 8 am, I could see pretty much clear as a bell. There is still a touch of haze around the edges on detail things (say like the numbers on a digital clock across the room), but otherwise, I see very, very well. :-X22 :D So, within 12 hours, I went from having to use -4.75 contacts in both eyes to seeing 20/20 with no contacts/glasses at all. And they said once the swelling goes down and the eyes fully heal (a week to 10 days), I will most likely see even better and the sharpness will fall into place and those fuzzy edges will disappear. That's occurring because of the swelling in my eyes which is normal.

I was soooo thrilled this morning when I opened my eyes to look across the room at the alarm clock and could actually read the numbers and knew I didn't have any glasses on and didn't have any contacts in. OMG what a feeling that was! :-jammin

Donna - It wasn't painful at all and even after the surgery it isn't painful. The only thing it feels right now is like I have dirty contacts in. You know, where they feel a bit irritating and a touch scratchy/dirty like you know you need to replace them? That's how it feels. However, I keep putting artificial tears in every hour or two and that feeling subsides, so really it's not bad. This obviously won't last. It's just my eyes healing. The doc checked my eyes this morning and said everything looks perfect and as intended for after the surgery. I go back on Tue (it normally would be Mon, but that's a holiday) for my next check up. It didn't hurt in the surgery at all, it was just "odd" feeling. You felt some pressure of the equipment around your eye socket (on your face, not on your eye itself) to keep you still and such while they did their magic, but that only lasted 26 seconds (yes, they told me how many seconds and counted down while they were doing it so I know how much longer). It really wasn't bad at all and I'm the type that doesn't like doctors/dentists/etc... or anything done to me and I handled it fine. They said I was a perfect patient. They give you Valium to make sure you're calm and relaxed, but I don't think I took enough to be honest. They are 10mg a piece and they give you 2 initially and then ask you if you need more. If you do, they don't hesitate to give you more. I ended up taking 3 total just to make sure I didn't freak out or anything and I was fine.

So, I just have to be careful of some things for the next week or two (no water in my eyes during a shower, no swimming/jacuzzi, stuff like that) and make sure to keep up with your antibotics and eye drops and stuff. As long as you do that and don't scratch your eyes with your fingers/hands, I'll be fine. :)

As for the interview thing...I agree with you. In my line of work and from former military training and soldier boards, the more straight forward and calm and collected you were, the better you were rated. So, it's very hard for me to be "animated" during an interview. Especially if I'm confident and calm and collected, then I probably do get monotone and answer them straight forward. I don't embellish or throw in misc things during my answers. I've found out in the past that usually gets you into trouble. Well, apparently they are looking for people that are going to be bouncy and happy and vibrant with the people on the phone during these dispatch calls. I'm like that, but just not in an interview. So, anyway, I'm waiting to hear what happens. I'm supposed to hear by later this afternoon. I'm trying not to go nuts thinking about it and looking at the phone every two seconds. LOL

So, I'm hoping to know more about the interview later and praying that they reconsider me and give me one of the positions. We'll see.
