How many miles are on your 7.3?

How many miles do you have on your original 7.3 engine. Not rebuilt.

I'll start first.
95 7.3 531,645 mi
02 7.3 125,156 mi

Brown Falcon 08-18-2011 12:45 AM

Dang, I hope my 95 lasts that long!

My '95 is at 186,200 and counting... I've owned it since 160k

2002exPSD 08-18-2011 12:49 AM

My uncle bought my 95 brand new and used it for hot shot hauling cross country. He sold it to me with 490,000 mi on it for $1500. I use it as a work truck to haul materials. 20mpg highway and no smoke what so ever.

Seabiscuit-P3 08-18-2011 12:53 AM

193,000 and counting. Owned since 190,000. Engine is stock. PO had all service and work done on it at a Ford Dealership. My hope is that this will be my "final" truck.

Brown Falcon 08-18-2011 12:53 AM

I can get 20+ mpg highway with mine, no smoke when it's on the stock setting... plenty when it's turned up with the Stage I's fueling it!

As long as I don't wreck it or it isn't made illegal to own in the future this will be my last truck. Once the engine quits it'll be cheaper to rebuild it than to buy another truck...

kupiec20 08-18-2011 05:06 AM

i thought i read a while back that our trucks wont read past 399,999

kupiec20 08-18-2011 05:12 AM

i will never have a auto loan again. both are paid for and i use them both just for daily driving. 190K and 142K.

fordpride 08-18-2011 06:35 AM

200690.7 but less than 75k on
POS tranny

1800joedaddy 08-18-2011 06:50 AM

97' 336k hwy
96' 300k hard pulling
95' 136k 1/4 mile at a time.

DIYMechanic 08-18-2011 06:57 AM

Mine is at 389,000 and change as of now. It could be 489,000 or more though since the Odo rolls back from 399,999.9 to 300,000.0. Given the shape of the body on mine, it wouldn't surprise me if it were 589,000! When time and money allow, I plan to slowly start rebuilding the truck's body and make it into my dream truck.

I love this thing though and hope to have it a long time. It will take me a long time to rack up a lot more mileage on this thing since my commute to work (the truck is my DD) is only 8 miles.

Only way I would sell it would be to get another CCLB like it in a little better condition.

2002exPSD 08-18-2011 07:11 AM

What trucks does the od roll over on. I've never heard of that, and I know quite a few people with obs. Mines still reading. My friend hunter has 400k++ on his. No od descrepency. My first truck an excursion 6.0 my bud I sold it to just blew the motor with 390,000 on it. Od worked fine.

Desert Rancher 08-18-2011 08:30 AM

'97 with 124K.

Think it will last a few more years??

DIYMechanic 08-18-2011 08:39 AM

So your '95 with the digital odo actually reads 531k? There was a pretty extensive thread here several months ago that said they roll back to 300k, but I would love for that to be wrong.

2002exPSD 08-18-2011 09:08 AM

Mine reads 531k when the fuse is good. It blows the fuse about every 2000 miles for some reason

superduty4x4 08-18-2011 09:56 AM

158k and counting.

richdawg 08-18-2011 10:35 AM

Mine has 146,280 miles. Had 133k when I bought it almost 5yrs ago. }>

pjwoolw 08-18-2011 11:00 AM

About 86k on the 97.

You're either older than I thought or very ambitious!

joe_13894 08-18-2011 11:11 AM

198K, I bought it with 141K on it 6 years ago.
The only engine work is fixing many $*!@$*! oil and fuel leaks in the valley and a new water pump.

Major Marvin 08-18-2011 11:39 AM

About 180,00 miles or so on my 97' OBS. I bought it used last October and she's running strong

Thats wierd. What fuse blows? What else does that fuse effect? I hope mine does not start anything like that.

BIGRED 7.3L 08-18-2011 12:42 PM

168K and owned since Dec 2009. 160K when I bought it. All orginal except for what I have done to it...and going to do to it.:-X04

I'm only 25, so I guess that makes me ambitious! As long as I can keep from totaling it I'm keeping her!

Can you post a pic of your odometer reading that?

Mine has 343k miles on it now. The last 100k miles have been w/ aftermarket injectors and tuning.

Me too! I'm only 26 and i don't ever plan getting a new truck.

167k on mine, but it has factory reman stickers on it. Don't know when that was done.

chicagodragon 08-18-2011 03:05 PM

i am with you guys, its cheaper to keep fixing it than to get a new one. 290k and i dont ever plan on dropping 60 grand on a new version of what i have

We don't fix, we upgrade! That's why I'm not concerned with running any additive in my diesel. When the stock injectors go bad, I get new stage 1s! :-jammin My wife can't tell me I don't need them if they go bad. :-X04

tshrager 08-18-2011 03:43 PM

173k on the clock, runs like a dream and trying to keep it that way

deadsenator 08-18-2011 05:52 PM

121k on her right now. Bought her at 52k and the fuel pump was done that month. Jeez, I prolly made my account here within six months of buying it. lol. :-X03

I see zero reason to buy another truck. Okay, I wouldn't mind a black 7.3 Sooper Dooty CC LB 5-sp to match, but only because I like those trucks, too. But I don't have the cash to plonk down, so it isn't happening. Poor me. :'(

427 fordman 08-18-2011 06:25 PM

156k on mine. I've put 70k on it in the 11 years I've owned it. My plans have always been to keep it and never get another one. At 6-7k a year, it should last that long with some maintence of course.

Deadeye1445 08-18-2011 06:52 PM

259k On mine, had 237K on it when I bought it a Yr and 1/2 ago... Im only 18 and I plan to keep this as my final vehicle lol... In the process on restoring it i guess you would say. Working on fixing a bed for it and fenders. She'll be a beauty when I'm done :D

Ahhhhhh.........the bliss of youth and young marriage. I can remember when I thought like that, some 30 years ago. Enjoy while you can, eventually she will catch on........................guess that's about when the honeymoon ends, as they say.

IDIDieselJohn 08-18-2011 08:43 PM

Not a PSD but my 1990 7.3 has 377k miles still running like a top.

Had to retire it do to dying of cancer (rust).

Restoration in progress :)

F350-6 08-18-2011 08:44 PM

374k and change on my 7.3. All by me.:-X06

I suppose that makes your memory better than mine. (or maybe worse). I wouldn't describe the time it took my wife to catch on as "eventually". Seems like getting away with stuff passed by pretty quick, but at least it got better again when the kid moved out.

Andy Sullivan 08-18-2011 09:11 PM

278,452, had the truck for 7 years. It had 184,000 when I bought her.

that fuse controls the ignition(when it blows it wont start with the key), cruise control quits working, mph gauge goes out and last but not least the od goes blank. replace the fuse and all works again.

Wrighton 08-18-2011 10:12 PM

Purchased new in June of 1997 F -350 Powerstroke Diesel 4X4 XLT Off Road Package Reg Cab.

172,000 well maintained miles. I've purchased 3 Ford PU's since 1976 and this one has been the best of the lot.

That's pretty much what I have to do to get new parts for mine. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" is my wife's motto. Makes me want to blow up my 2wd trans so I can swap my 4x4 one in sooner. lol

But then I couldn't sell the 2wd one and buy more parts...

kupiec20 08-19-2011 04:49 AM

whos up there in milage with a stock auto tranny without any repairs?
