having a burning desire to own a 2000-03 f150 harley davidson!

first off im not really a harley fan nor do i even own or want to own one. I just really love this truck. If i wanted to buy one of these trucks is it possible and some what pracitical to make it in to a all wheel drive truck if if have a standard supercrew to rob parts off of. Or would be more theseable to just pull the body and cab and bed off and put it on a supercrew 4wd frame

painting one up and clone it seems very pricey!! considering the cost of paint and parts and the supercharged 5.4 . i can get my hands on my neighbors supercrew thats been beat to hell and sittin with a scattered engine. Or i have a my 2000 lincoln navigator i could put the body one that if the frames are the same! and im not shure.

i love these trucks its just hoplessly impracital to own a 2wd truck where i live. i would love to find a super crew 2000-2003 4wd thats black and convert it to a harley davidson using the interior and the bumper!

any one ever heard of anyone converting a 2wd to a 4wd? i know the transmissions are different but if i have the complete drive train and EMS could a swap be doable on a 2wd frame? that to me seems like the easy way to go, because i can do all the wrenching to the front end myself if they are the same frames just differnt front ends! and thats my problem i dont know if there the same kinda frame!

thanks!!

It pains me to say it considering these are limited edition trucks, but, the quickest easiest way would be to drop the body on a solid 4x4 and go from there. You could put a solid front axle up under it and swap trannys, but that could nickle and dime you to death. Im not a fan of clones, but it's not really that big of a deal if the price is right. I couldn't imagine tearing my '00 HD F150 apart for that swap. Being one of less than 8200 I'm gonna hold onto it. At least pick a year that more were produced. Lol.

Yeah, best option would be a frame swap.
Oh, and 02 and 03 are the only 5.4 supercharged Harleys. :)

2 years ago there was a Silver and Black '03 H-D F150 sitting in front of the Ford dealer as I drove by. On my return trip I was going to stop and look at it and ask the price. It was gone when I got back. It had only 20,000 miles on it by the original owner that was killed on a job accident. It sold for $18,500 and was worth every bit of it. It is in absolutely immaculate condition. Not a scratch on it anywhere. I see it every once in a while.

Needless to say, I would have bought it in a heartbeat had I got there first.

i was under the empression that the transmissions valve bodys are different and dont interchange. and the ECu cant controll them from the r4100 or what ever the 2WD trans is to r470w 4wheel. i was curious if the frames were the same up front and if i had a donor vehicle to pull parts from i could make this a 4wheel drive. i wish and hope its that easy, i ve found a few california that i might try to get soon. and ive got accesss to a totaled 2000ish supercrew 4wd i can up from.

The frames are different.

I took all my 4X4 stuff out of my truck and wanted to put a 2WD suspension under it.
No go,,nothing will blot up.
Only thing you could do is cut the hole front of the frames and swap and weld it back.

That's why we said a body swap would be essayer and less work.

I have no clue on the trannies. But with a body to 4x4 frame swap, possibly only the ECU would need changed, but I'm guessing on that.

I use to own an 03 two-tone Harley F-150 that I really liked. It's was super nice (except for the fuel economy). BUT,.....it wasn't practical for me or my wife, as I really needed a diesel, so we sold it.

I still miss that truck. :(

Why not just make a clone?

Why would you want to neuter a perfectly good truck?

That all depends on your situation. If you still want to go off road or have snow that you need to drive your truck in, I would say no.
When I bought the truck, I could go out in 2 feet of snow without a worry. Kinda miss that. :)
My truck has also been lowered 3" in the front and 4" in the back.
As for pics, I don't want to clutter up this thread. So click on my user name, then on gallery. Then open all my pics in there. I have a lot of them. :-X22
