Why is t he ecoboost exhaust so sooty?

Is there something I should be doing different? I'm driving it like any other vehicle that I've owned.

I noticed the same thing I only have 2600 miles on mine but I am getting a soot buildup on my tail pipe. I am also only getting 16.5 mpg average with my max tow. I was thinking it is part due to the large mirrors and 3.73 axles. Have been thinking maybe the computer runs the engine rich at first.

Thanks John! I remember reading that now I think about it. I'm not alarmed, just curious. I just rolled 1500 miles and she's running like a scalded dog. :D

The ecoboost tag on the sides is generating a ton of interest that will hopefully transcend into sales for Ford and the local dealers.

Well, I'm loving my truck more and more each day. This is my MPG at around 145 miles into our trip to Myrtle Beach yesterday:

It hadn't been reset since I fueled up earlier in the week. And even now after quite a bit of stop and go MB traffic, it's still at 18.9MPG. I love it!:-jammin

Just to confirm it, I fueled up when we got here. The truck's computer and hand calculations are within about .2 MPG so it's pretty darn accurate.

That's great for any truck John, especially a beast like yours. :-X22

I'm getting 19.5 - 20.5 mixed and over 23 on short highway trips. I hope it gets better. There are a few folks in our beloved network that need to see the truth.
