300 6 aggressive exhaust

i have a 1985 f-150 with the 300 inline 6.

i currently have a 2 inch pipe back to a cherry bomb glass pack under the front of the box with no pipe past the glass pack. i dont mind the sound its alright but i want something that sounds better

i know that you cant make a 6 banger sound like a v8 but i was wondering if there is any exhaust system that will give it a deep throaty sound.

any advice is greatly appreciated.

It's pretty hard to make a six sound like a v8. It's very easy to make a six sound like a honda civic. Ask some guys on here if they have the fuel injection exhaust manifolds or the dual outlet header with a true dual exhaust. If I had a six, that's what I would try to do if I could somehow get it to pass inspection(cat convertor(s)).

i know its very hard to make a inline 6 sound like an v8. i used to have the exhaust pipe hanging fairly low and it sound alright. but i got it hung up once and it pulled the glass pack off. so when i fixed it i lifted it right up close to the box hoping it would echo off the box and make it louder. well i was wrong. at idle and low throttle it sounds the same. at higher rpm though it sounds like a civic with a coffee can muffler so this system needs to go.

i would run dual pipes but i cant afford it right now. i was just wondering if there are any mufflers that can give me a decent sound.

if i had the money this is the system i would be using. Offenhauser 6019-DPK Offenhauser Dual Port 6-Cylinder Manifold

I don't know about the mufflers, but I can't stand to have the exhaust come out between the body and the roadway. It gives you this loud drone in the cab that I can't stand. I always try to bring the pipe out the side or out the back just a little bit beyond the body to prevent that noise in the cab.

yeah it is pretty loud in the cab. i think im gonna run more pipe and take it back farther to get rid of the ricer sound

LEave the cat, straight pipe out the back bumper...Its surprisingly quite in the cab, and doesnt get loud till you let it wind up.
