U1262 SCP Cmmunication bus failure

2002 Dually CC 7.3

After searching high and low on the internet for a fix for this code, can't find any threads that fixes it. I read some people say, "you need the stealership for this one". :'( ouch

Any suggestions? She starts and drives fine

I do have a AE scanner..

Many thanks

Just found one post stating it the truck migh thave a partial burt PCM and to just replace the PCM

can somone please school me on PCM's? Are all 2002 F350 PCM's the same? or do i need to pull my PCM and see the number i need?

They are different. What exactly, not sure. There is a code on each one. You would have to remove the bracket to find it. To remove the PCM, follow instructions for installing a dp tuner or other chip.

There is an SCP+ and an SCP- that goes to the OBDII data link connector. I would think that if one were open your AE wouldn't be able to communicate with the PCM. Grab your VOM an check pin 2 and 10 with key of and key on-engine off. If you don't find the right potenials it could be a loose wire or bad connctor pin. Pin 16 should be hot at all times and is protected by the same fuse as the cig lighter.

Payson thanks for chiming in, what should I expect, checking the VOM an check pin 2 and 10 with key of and key on-engine off? If i do find resistance that means its has connectivity if it doesn't that means i have a lose wire? or?

Check with key off and then with keyon-engine off. Of course if it won't start the engine will be off anyway. But even with engine running you would see the same potentials as with key on-engine off.

To check for the voltages one lead to good ground, the other to pin.

To check for ground one lead on voltage, use pin 16 if it is hot, and the other on pin. If ground present at pin you should see the voltage from pin 16 or whatever voltage source you use. Check the voltage source you use to a good ground so you know what to expect when you check a pin for ground.
