Automatic Transmission Break-In?
 

OK boys I will be getting my truck out of the Ford dealer tomorrow with a remanufactured transmission. I have searched the forums and have not been able to locate information regarding break-in of a new transmission. Is there a recommended break-in procedure for a new transmission?

Nope, drive it.

my guy says to drive semi sane for the first 100-200 miles. after that drive as you normally would. not sure how much you really need to do that..but i have and have had no issues with my rebuilds.

If it was rebuilt right it should not have any issues!! Drive it as you always would!!!

There is no break in procedure required on an automatic transmission.

I need your help with my new remanufactured transmission. Had a factory ford remanufactured transmission put in at a ford dealer and after driving less than 200 miles there is trouble with the trans. The dealer wants to only repair the trans and I'm telling them I want another reman put in the truck which they refuse to do. Does anyone have any advise as to what i can do to get another remanufactured trans put in?

Which trans and what is the trouble?

Sometimes your insistance that it be fixed and refusal to take the malfunction as "normal" will sway them towards another full swap.

My replacement had a flare in it--"normal" for the 5R55E it seems, but I "fixed" that with some snake oil.

I also noticed they installed an in-line filter in the cooler lines. Hhhhmm, what do they fear about the new trans and their R&R job....:-huh

Ford requires an inline filter to maintain the warranty on remanufactured transmissions. It's impossible to get every bit of trash out of the coolers so the filter protects the new trans from debris left over from the old trans.
