1999 V-10 Limited Slip Auto Transmission problem
 

Today I backed my truck up to hook up to a boat and put it in park. When I went to leave I could start the engine but could not get the transmission out of Park. The back wheels were on the edge of where the garage apron met gravel with a slight drop. The rear wheel on one side wound up just between the concrete and gravel. He tried to rock it with no sucess. I than had him get his truck and gently push me backwards and I was able to shift it out of park and drive ahead onto the level gravel. I put it in park and again it would start but not shift out of Park. Had him push me back a 1-2 inches and again I was able to move it out of Park.
I drove about 8 miles home and decided to park on the street just in case. Sure enough, I can't get it out of park again after starting it.
Any ideas before I take it in to Ford. The $$$ signs are already scaring me.
The truck has 130,000 miles, runs great and looks like new. It's been well cared for.

Turn the key to the off, but unlocked, position, and see if it will come out of Park.

It could be the solenoid isn't letting go of the lever inside the column, and might not have anything to do with the transmission itself.

If it IS the tranny, sounds like the park mechanism is locking up...

Do the brake lights work?

Thanks for the suggestions. Turning key to accessory position allowed me to shift to neutral and start the truck. I then looked at my fuse panel as I was checking out another problem earlier in the day.
Discovered I had put a fuse back in the wrong slot and when I placed it where it belonged everything was fine.
Still don't understand why an electrical issue could be temporarily fixed by allowing it to be moved out of PARK by pushing the truck backwards a couple inches.
