Transmission line removal from radiator

Ok, in the process of removing radiator and I'm wondering about the transmission cooler lines running into and out of radiator. Is there a special tool required for a 2006? I took off the plastic retainers, they just snap off, but the line looks sort of like a quick connect fuel line.

Yes, you should use a disconnect tool like the ones used on fuel lines...

Along the lines of this, but should be able find one at a local auto store. Need a 1/2" one...

Be careful if those lines are rusty you may need to replace them.

Don't ask me how I know.

No rust.

I've got fuel line ones in 1/2", but they are too long. They won't fit between the ridge on the line and the fitting. Had some shorter ones previously, but they have gone the way of the dodo bird. Guess I'll have to leave it for tomorrow. Rads got to come out for a proper cleaning.

Yes you definetley need the exact tool for the job. Close won't work for those

Just did a search for a disconnect tool. Lisle makes a complete kit. Funny, there is a whole bunch of generic ones included, but of course there is also a Ford specific transmission line tool.
