Help = 2.3 1997 Ranger Timing marks???? Help

Got the new belt & tension-er in today & looking for the timing marks to line up right ?

Turns out it was built in 8/96 so a 97 truck.

Crank is TDC went around the sprockets counter clockwise & turned it over 2 times all lined up.

THe marks line up on the balancer, @ TDC with the cam & oil pump lined up/

It starts hard & runs ruff. smells like raw fuel. CHuggs like a Diesel

No triangles, should be a small dot on the front face of one of the cam sprocket teeth, to be lined up with the pointer. Crank sprocket keyway gets set to 12 o'clock. Rotate crank two turns and recheck alignment.

All there was are a notch on the outer ring on the cam sprocket, & a triangle on the rear belt housing case, same with the oil pump drive only it was a diamond.

The crank was set at 12:00 position the timing mark lines up at TDC with the cover on it.

Started it up & it is chugging, think it is off 10*

Went old school om it the marks got worn off some hard to see
We went with the cam Keyway at 6:00

the crank keyway @ 12:00 & the oil pump drive @ 6:00

Runs like a champ
