2001 F250 Brake Fluid type?
Hi All,
I'm in the process of replacing two rear calipers/pads and rotors on my 2001 F-250 Superduty pickup truck. Rear calipers must have been hanging up ,and it wore the inside pad of the driver and pass side ,so although all the brakes visually looked good, the rear inners were worn to the point of taking out the rotors, and then a piston on the driver side ,once it wore to that point. Only heard the grinding about one day before it eventually failed? Anyhow, I noticed that the brake fluid seems to have a greenish tint to it,at least that what is draining out once the calipers were removed. I don't have the TSM for the truck, and was wondering if this brake fluid is special,or is a basic DOT 3 fluid OK? Thanks in advance! Rick |
Yes, I believe DOT3 is the proper fluid.

Greenish fluid means it's time to flush the reservoir and the lines to get fresh fluid in there. DOT 3 is what's called for.

Thanks guys.
I will definately be flushing the system real good. Rick |
