Torque specs for lugnuts on aluminum wheels?

Could someone tell me what the lugnuts should be torqued to on a 03 SD with aluminum wheels?

Thanks,

165 ft/lbs is the spec.

My stock steel wheels required 140 ft/lbs. The aluminum wheels I have now (different lug nuts) are torqued to 115.

Thanks guys! I guess that pretty much means real tight :) Reps sent.

If I have aftermarket wheels and lug-nuts should I not be tightening them to the Ford specs? I've noticed my lug-nuts are ever so slightly twisted from torquing them to 160-165 lbs. I have pro-comp 6059-1079's and whatever lug-nuts they gave me with them.

It never occurred to me that the torque specs might be different because the lug-nuts are a different composition metal.

I was told not to go over 125 lbs with mine to avoid jumping threads

165 ft lbs is for the factory wheels. If you have aftermarket, it could/will be different...

I thought it was 150 lbs ft for factory nuts...

Most people will torque to 150 lbs.because they don't have a torque wrench that goes to 165 lbs. The proper torque is 165 lbs on factory wheels. I still have to get a 200 lb. torque wrench.....

Ford book for 99 super duty is 148 lbs ft..srw..Just looked. I have 2 wrenches that go to 250 and one to 400 lb ft. They may have raised it for later years..

I stand corrected the factory torque spec for mine was 150 lbs not 140. Either way I don't see where people are getting 165? Maybe it depends on which rims you have, mine were 18x8

The spec for trucks with srw's from 08 and up is 165 lb/ft of torque. If I recall correctly both my 05 and 07 were 150.

You guys seriously torque all your lugnuts with a torque wrench?!?!?!?! thats got to take FOREVER!

do yourself a favor and buy a torque stick extension that is the right ft-lbs and hammer away with the impact....

JESTERxHEAD 06-30-2011 05:46 PM

here is the link for a 160 lb-ft torqe stick....they are VERY effective.....

I don't torque them at all. I just use my impact...
