3.0 engine change

I have a 2003 Ranger 3.0 ff v-6 that needs to be replaced. I have ordered a new motor that will delivered in a coupled of days. My father in law was an ASE mechanic back in the days and is will to help me out but since I have never changed out a motor i would like to read a step by step manual. Is there such a thing? Any help will be greatly appeciated.

First off, Welcome to FTE. I'm sure you will find a lot of helpful information here. I'm not sure if any repair manual has a step by step engine removal process listed in their chapters but I could be wrong. You could look through a "Chilton" or "Haynes" manual for your year Ranger at a book store or auto parts store to see if they have a section that will cover the engine removal, before you buy it. But I think the best manual you will have is your Father in-law. He'll be able to show you how things go together and help walk you through different parts of this process better than any manual ever will. Get with him and see what he has to offer. I'm sure he'll be very helpful. Good luck and have fun.

My Haynes manual has a step by step, so does Alldata, a factory manual probably would as well. you can always go to your local library they might have a manual and thats free.
