970 mile road trip and now a p0404 :(
 

Hey guys,
As the title says, I drove from MS to VA yesterday in my 05 F-250 6.0. Truck ran great the whole way and even topped off at 19 MPG's :D.

Pulled into the parking lot last night at 930 and let the truck idle for a bit for the oil temp to cool down before shutting it off.

Got in the truck this afternoon to go up the street and after about 2 minutes of normal driving I had to come to a stop light. When it turned green I rolled off from the light like normal and the truck started chugging and blowing smoke. Came to a stop and checked the bully dog and had a p0404 code showing.

Shut the truck off let it sit then started it again. no code and it idled fine. Took off and it started chugging again for a little bit then cleared up and ran fine. p0404 code came back but i cleared it and hasnt come back again.

Do you think the EGR valve got stuck over night and released itself?

When the valve sticks it will buck and jerk under acceleration. Ever clean or replace the valve?

nope, truck has 105k on it.

Your EGR valve lasted 105k miles!?!? That's gotta be a world record!!! lol


Replace it and you should be good.

LOL Im still new to the 6.0 PSD so I guess thats good
