Data Plate Info On 1966 F100
Can anybody help me understand the data plate on the door of my F100? It has the VIN F10AK838125 then under it there is: 115N F100 451 C 09 05000 129 4000 632801. I'm sure somewhere in this is the paint code, any help would be great. Was my Dad's truck now trying to rebuild it. Thanks

K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant. 838125 = 1966, assembled March 1966. 115" Wheelbase. N = Platinum (special order color, was an RPO [Regular Production Order] only on 1966 Thunderbirds). F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR 451 = ? No such Body code, should be 481. 481: 4 = Medium Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Match Stick Pattern Vinyl // 81 = 81A Standard Cab. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. 129 net HP @ 4,000 RPM 632801: 63 = Memphis TN Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from. 2801 = Domestic Special Order number. The truck was special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot." The Platinum exterior color was special ordered, was not offered on trucks, just Thunderbirds. Back then, FoMoCo would paint a vehicle any 'ol color the customer requested, whether from another Ford vehicle, another automakers vehicle, or as requested by the US Gov't. and commercial accounts. |

Here is a picture of the truck.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...959739&thumb=1My truck still has the 240 engine with the oil bath air breather. Not much has been changed minus the wheels and I added a radio when I was in high school back in the 70s.

Bill, wasn't it great when auto companies would actually do what you wanted. Now days, you can't even get the right parts from the dummies at parts places. You ask for a replacement cigar lighter and they ask if its a 4 or 2 wheel truck. ?????? ;o( |
