Super Duty 10 Lug hubs setups...

Hey there,

New to the site.

I am looking for information regarding super duty 10 lugs setups. I recently purchased a pair of differentials that the previous owner was unsure of their origin.

both diffs are 10 lug, and for a dually.
The rear is a Dana 80, and appears to have 4.63 ratio, huge disc brakes.
The front is a dana 70, Low pinion, drivers side drop, and has 5.13 gears. It also has huge disc brakes on it. The hub is not an adapter of any kind, and it's also 10 lug.
The calipers on the front, and rear axle, appear to be exactly the same.

I purchased the pair of diffs for the front dana 70 with 5.13 gears. I also got a bunch of 10 lug wheels, and a pair of rear leafs packs for the rear axle.... A lot of stuff now resides in my driveway, all just to get the front axle.

The previous owner thought the diffs came from a super duty. I would like to figure out how to put 8 lug standard hubs on this setup.

Anyone have any idea of what these are... ? Is there any value to the rear differential, and the front 10 lug hubs...? As well as all the other stuff I got... i would like sell it all, but if its not worth anything, I'll drop it off for scrap I suppose.

Thanks for any help.

The F450 & 550 have 10 lug setups.

I realize that....
But does anyone have any additional information on the diffs I have.

For example, how common is the front Dana 70, how hard it would be to swap to 8 lug hubs... ?

Is there any value to all this other stuff I got? How common is this 10 lug hardware, is it worth anything, or is it all uncommon, and undesirable. ?

It is just a higher duty (can handle more weight axle). It is used in medium duty trucks like the Chevy Kodiak. I will allow your truck to handle more weight than the 350 axles. Your fuel mileage will drop due to the gear ratios being for moving heavy loads.

I can't attest to the popularity of them. Since they are so heavy duty, it would seem almost too much for true off road enthusiasts.

why couldnt you swap gear ratios to what you have now?
you are going to have to change something anyway since you have 4.63 and 5.13 mixed on front and rear

edit:
i dont mean that you swap your current gears in, but if you have 4.55 now then honestly 4.63 isnt that far off, but you can swap the 5.13 to be the same as the 4.63. or you could swap both to be whatever you want

Do you have a project in mind with these axles or are you attempting to sell them?

Depends on the year. My truck has 8 lugs on Dana 80
I wouldn't be surprised if 8 lugs rotors would fit on the axle coming with 10 lugs.
The only way to answer is to try.

4.63 gears were only offered on 88-97 F Superduty's (F450) that I'm aware of. 99-04 F450's were 8 lug wheels with 4.88's or 5.38's. and 05-up F450's have Dana 110 rears and front coils. If your front axle is a Dana 70, it is probably from a 88-97 4x4 conversion. 99 up F450's had 60 (or super 60) series front ends.
