Another V10 traded for an Ecoboost!

Well its been a while since I was on the truck forums. I guess since the last time I bought a new truck. :) This forum has been super helpful as I was deciding and preparing to change trucks. I traded in a Blue 2005 Harley Davidson F-250 V10 for a new Tuxedo Black Metallic 2011 F-150 4x4 Supercrew, shortbed, Platinum model with the Ecoboost V6. Options include the 3.73 LS axle, Max tow package, Nav, moonroof and tailgate step. I have to say this is one sweet truck! :-X06

I picked it up at a dealer 130 miles from me and drove it home and averaged 18 mpg according to the lie-o-meter. I didn't go over 70mph on purpose just to see what I could get for mileage. Not bad for a truck that will tow 11,000+ lbs. That would be about double what the V10 would get. The ride is smooth and car like compare to the lifted F-250. The Ecoboost is a torque monster. I'm glad I was able to do a deal on this one because of the major delays ordering black trucks and also Nav. Ok enough talk, here are some pics.

The truck is very nice. I was looking at one in the show room while picking up my new truck. Lots of room in it.:-X22
The Mustang is nice in the back too. But I would want to drive that car more then the truck.

You say you only got 18 MPG with a F150 V6 on the highway.:-huh You should have gotten more then that. I thought it would have been up around 22-24 MPG. I get 16.5 doing 70 with my Superduty 6.2, and with me weighing about 2000 lbs more. Maybe because it's new and needs some break in time and the transmission to learn your driving patterns???

Thanks guys. I am really lovin' this truck of the year! :-jammin Even my wifey is liking the truck. She never really liked to drive the F-250. The nav/sync system is just way cool. The Ecoboost pulls hard but is real quiet. The whole truck is super quiet. The Platinum's have the SoundScreen windshield. Sure is a bunch of stuff with the turbos under the hood. The heat exchanger is huge. I will let you know how it tows once I put on 1000 miles. I have to redo my trailer hitch first as well. Just washed the truck and it is in the shop prepped and ready for wax. Sure is nice having perfect fresh paint to work on.

I should have mentioned that the 18mpg was door to door from the dealer to my house. Included some city, country backroad and Interstate driving. This was over a mountain pass BTW. I am fine with it. I've read it will improve after 3000 miles are on the truck. Not sure with 3.73s how much better it could get.

The Shelby is definitely more fun to drive. LOL At 750 hp it's best to hold on tight. :-X06

That makes more sense. Most dealers have been putting in E85 for the new trucks for delivery. That will bring down the MPG's.

Thanks! Nope no plans to lift. Tired of hearing my family bitch about getting in the truck. LOL How about some nice silver stripes to match the car? :-X04

Thanks Omaha. The Mustang is just for when I don't want to get my truck dirty. ;)

Nice truck. Congratulations. So, do you have to do the old Dukes of Hazzard to get in/out of the Mustang when it's in the trailer? :-X04 That's a nice ride, too, by the way.
