P0708 - 2001 Ford Ranger transmission range sensor questions?
 

I got a code P0708 and my check engine light is on and o/d light flashes on/off constantly.

Do you guys find that it is typically the sensor or the connector? Both?

Also, any write-ups on how to replace the sensor?

Might be a bad connection, might be the sensor, might be the PCM, or might be the harness.

Start somewhere, like cleaning and reseating the connector, and go from there.

Alright, today I replaced the transmission range sensor (neutral safety switch).

The first drive (for about a mile) ran great. The o/d light was not flashing anymore. Then, just going down the highway it all started up again.

"First into second" gear shifts hard, but the other gears are normal.

I also sprayed out the terminals at the range sensor plug.

Any thoughts?

Any ideas for those that have went through this?
