How to tell is HPOP is going bad?
I have a 97 F350 with 185,000 miles on it, stock injectors, and all the mods in my sig. It seems like when I start my truck up cold and drive it, it seems like its lacking in power until it warms up. Is this normal? It also seeems to smoke more when its cold and i lean into the throttle than when it has warmed up. Was thinking i might have weak/leaking injectors or a bad HPOP. I also get a strong fuel smell from my tail pipe that seems stronger than it should be.
Thanks in advance. |
Nothing your describing seems abnormal. The fuel odor might be a concern if it was constant. If its there only when the engine is cold that seems pretty normal to me too.

Our engines are dogs when cold. Gotta give it some time to warm up.
Smoke is not abnormal as well as long as it goes away. To test the HPOP you would have to have a scanner to ICP and duty cycle. |
maybe egpv engaging when it's cold? wag!!

I didnt think about that, my egbv is wired open, could that be why it reaks like fuel?

Are you due for an oil change? Get it on a scanner , let us see some live data... My WAG is the IPR is sticking ... |
