I just talked to the friend in Virginia Beach, he simply used the dash and kept his old wiring. Next time I go over there I will get it from him.

I've got a question related to this because I have an '86 and a '88 with this problem.
I had a '73 that just had the manual valve down on the floor, and all the one on the dash did was control the guage. Thing never gave me or my dad any problems the whole 30 some years we drove it. Is it possible or has anyone tried a manual valve in place of this electronic valve that seems to go bad sooner or later?

I am definately interested in the rear wiring and selector valve you have. Do you know if the wiring your friends has, has cruise, A/C, and dual tanks? My cell # is 304-532-5777

thanks,,,

Fummins, it was an F150 XLT Lariat, loaded. Mine is a F350 XL with the motorized tank selector. Both trucks have/had AC, cruise and dual tanks. The harness he has is technically mine anyway. Since 85-86 were tranisition years, the EFI or Duraspark II plug into the front harness. Where is Le Roy WV?

Sounds great! If you can give me a call later, we can talk $$. Le Roy is about an hour north of Charleston, WV,,, just outside of Ripley. (Exit 138 off Interstate 77) My ZIP is 25252.

So you should have a Dana 50 TTB front and Dana 60 rear, and a BW 1345 transfer case (if it's still there); that is what mine came from the factory with, and it sounds like yours started life as virtually the same truck as mine. Dana 70 came behind the diesels.
As far as the tank selector goes; one from a newer truck is plug and play BUT, the switch on the dash will work in reverse; found that one out the hard way.............I pirated mine out of the 89 that donated it's drive train to my truck.

All single rear wheel diesels came standard with a dana 60 or a Ford/Sterling later on.

Mine has apparently been changed out at some time. It is a Dana 70. I plan on converting it to disc brakes soon, or maybe change over to a newer Dana 70 that came with discs. I know the Dodges have them,,, not sure what else might have one with discs. I'm sure the conversion would be easier and cheaper, just as long as I can keep the E brake. The only issue I might have with mine is the spacers for dual wheels. Not sure how that would work with rotors vs. drums.

Fummins, go to this link for the 86 in-tank pump wiring with the hot fuel handling package. http://oldschoolhotrodder.com/downlo...fuel_pumps.zip

Just for the record, the valve you should get from autozone is FSV2K, or just make sure if available you get the 6 port valve with the pigtail, don't get home and realize you forgot it. The nice part about FSV2K is it is the same price as FSV2, if not they charge you and extra 19.99 for the pigtail if you buy them separately.

Cheers,
Devin
