EGR Block-off Help

My EGR tube is broken and I had it semi-fixed using a piece of hose from my SMOG system. Well the hose got too hot and broke. I'm gonna block the ends of the EGR off for now (until I get the money to buy a new tube). What do I need to block off? I'm getting a pipe cap and pipe plug for the fitting on the intake-manifold and the bottom of the solenoid. Do I need to block-off where the solenoid hooks to the upper-intake too? Thanks.

Just remove the vacuum line from the EGR valve and plug it. The valve should stay closed.
You may have to pull the upper intake to plug the EGR tube at the lower manifold.

Thanks. I can get the plug in there pretty good with it together. I'm gonna try using a socket and swivel to tighten it. So blocking the port into the upper-intake was a waste of time?

With no vacuum on the valve it should be closed.

i used jb weld and just filled in the place where the stupid flexi tube broke.

wont hold forever but neither will the weak tube ford used. and it works great right now. plus the price was right

Thanks subford, will it still show a CEL?

mean green, I hear ya. I thought the problem was a leaking manifold when I first heard it, so I plastered part of the manifold with the biggest hair-line crack in it with JB. I'm lookin at how to fab a better tube for next time now.

Yes you will get a CEL.
OR
you can put a block off plate in between the valve and the upper intake and leave the vacuum on the valve and you should not get an EGR code.

I fixed it a bit ago. Everything's together and it's running and sounding better. I put a plate (actually part of a coke can with permatex on the sides (didn't have a gasket at the house). I'll get/make a better plate soon.

5/8" freeze plug will fit snugly in the hole of the EGR. Thats all you need to block it off
