Hazards Come On Randomly
So far 3 times today my hazards have turned on with the car just sitting out in the parking lot. I have simply gone out and hit the hazard button on the dash and they have turned off...just to turn back on a few minutes later. Last time them came on I went out, pulled the dash panel and unplugged connector to the back of the switch, but they stayed on. Any idea where to look next? Relay? Something inside the dash?
Thanks! |
You stated "car" but you're in 2007+ Exped/Navi forum. What year/make/model/trim is the patient?
|
Sorry, thought that was a given: 2007 EB Expedition.
I pulled the turn signal fuse so the bulbs wouldn't continue to light up over night. Drove to work with the fuse out the next day, put it back in a little after lunch...haven't come on again. That was back on Wednesday. Hope this was just a fluke! |
I checked my older version service manual and don't see any TSB's or recalls, but that's not to there isn't any.... Nothing I see in there about those symptoms. Sorry, not much help...

Thanks for looking. If it comes up again, I'll bring it to the Stealership and use that extended warranty. :)

They haven't come back on since that day...so we'll see. I'll update this thread if it happens again. |
I would disconnect the battery for 20 minutes or so and see if it comes back. Could be the famous Ford glitch.

Lights came on again yesterday. Disconnected the battery for more than 20 minutes and when I reconnected it, the lights immediately came back on.
Pulled the fuse overnight, plugged it back in at work...lights came on. Brought it over to the dealership and they have been working on it all day. Got a call that they need to keep it until tomorrow and they "had been on the phone with Ford" and think they are getting close to figuring it out. Not sure if them needing to call Ford is a good thing or not. I'll post up when/if they figure it out. |
Bringin this back from the dead. Wondering what happened. Mine is doing the same thing and flashing with the security lock light on the dash.

Hazard Light Randomly come on....
I've been having the same problem with my 2007 Ford Expedition. Pulled the Negative off the battery at night and connected it back in the morning. It went away for a few weeks and now its back. I can shut them off by hitting the Hazard Light button on the dash, Any help appreciated....

UGH...same problem. Any solutions?!! |
Same problem
2007 Expy. Hazzard lights come on randomly. Battery replaced, problem returned. Has anyone found the root cause before I start tearing into it?

There are three elements in the control circuit for the hazards: The switch in the dash, the wiring from the switch to the Smart Junction Box, and the Smart Junction Box itself.
