Best Pulling Tire

I don't know if this has been beaten here before. I run a gas stock pulling truck. I have been running Mastercraft Courser MT tires and am way dug into the track. Due to budget constraints I am down below the top guys in horsepower. I am thinking of going to ATs so I can maybe spin them more. What are you guys running? Any thoughts? Diesel guys chime in too. TIA

STS Truxus

BF Goodrich - These will allow a little more slip than the Truxus.

Any variant of the BFG. There are several out there that are cheaper. Also consider the BFG retreads? I'd say if the size is available, they might be an option too.

I have also used the Coouser CTs They are not that bad. They seem a little stiff to me though. The BFG will definately air down better. The Truxus seem to be a little more fickle about air pressure. They hook great though. Very nice, soft tire.

I am a 2.6" turbo diesel puller. I am dealing with more weight (8000# truck) than you are. I do have some gasser friends though. They have mixed feelings about the Truxus over the BFG. I suppose there is a split among the diesel guys as well. It all depends on the track conditions. I pull in KY IN and OH. We have clay. Hard, tight, parts breaking clay. The diesels in this area are some of the most competitive in the country. My experience with truxus, BFG and Courser CTs have been based on pulling in our high traction clay tracks, I have also pulled on the sandy clay tracks of IN as well as indoor tracks.

My dislike of the worn out MTs mentioned above was the lack of siping in the tires. The sipings are what grabs the track surface. Treads with more sipings wear out faster but grab harder. also the leading edge makes a difference. The sharper, the better.

I am sure I am preaching to the choir here....

There is my $.02 worth....

Hope it helps (or at least entertains)
