Starter help

I put a new starter on my 302 and it's an aftermarket deal that has the solenoid on the starter. Also instead of the 4 post solenoid like we are all acustomed to this one only has 3. 1 small prong, 1 large that is prewired into the starter and 1 large prong for the battery cable. When I hook up the battery the starter immediately starts clicking. What am I doing wrong or does anyone have a wiring harness for this type of starter? Thanks for any and all help. This is the last thing in my way before the truck will be started.

The top stud on the soleniod is for the bat cable. The small male prong is for the start wire from the ign sw. or nuetral saf sw. That start prong is close to the batt stud and depending on the size of yout bat cable end, could be touching the start prong. With this soeniod there is no provision for the resistor wire that runs to the ballast resistor (if your still running points in the dist.) like on the remote Ford soleniods.
Don't try and use both the regular remote and the starter soleniod tobgether. It use to be a good trick for Chevy starters and their heat soak with headers. If you try to activate this new starter with the remote soleniod the starter will hang and keep spinning for abit when you release the key.
Don't forget to install a ground cable from the trans to the frame to ground the engine. I run it to the same place I connect my ground cable from the battery. (4 ga. or so works great.)

I checked the connections and they aren't touching. I even removed the starter wire to check if it was drawing current which it was. I also started to smoke my coil(not sure what happened there). Anyway this wiring harness is giving me fits. The kit is a WH101 from some no name company with a comic book as a guide. I found the schematic for an EZ 2 Wire harness and it's identical. To throw another wrench in he cogs I have an Autoloc push button ACC and push button Engine On/Off so there is no key. Any help is more than appreciated.

There are two different starters for 221/260/289/302 & 351W engines: One for A/T, t'other for M/T.

This one is supposed to be for A/T. I bought it from the local rod shop in town and they said it was the one I needed. Unfortunately no brand listed anywhere or part # for that matter.
