Diesel smog with EGR delete

I have a 04 and am considering doing the sinister egr delete kit. Will this cause me to fail smog? I was planning on leaving the valve on (at least for test time). I know they look for the EGR valve, but I don't know if having the delete installed would cause a significant NOX increase resulting in a fail. Anyone here with this kit have any issues with smog testing in the vegas area?

If the inspector is real thorough during the visual inspection he might notice the cooler delete and the tail pipe test for diesel is only a visual smoke test. Nevada doesn't test for polutants on diesels yet. The state does do random reinspections and can require you to take it to the sahara DMV inspection lab, and they will notice. I wouldn't remove it as much as I dislike egr because I don't like to break the law and pay fines. I am a liscenced smog inspector and not willing to take the risk. I put a bullet proof's heavy duty egr cooler on mine and a new oem engine oil cooler. I also did the ARP head studs. I did mine before I had any trouble with the stock one. If you sell your truck and you have removed any emmision devices stake law can require you to compansate the buyer what ever it costs him to bring it back into complience, and that can cost you a whole lot more than you spent removing it. I prefer to keep my money in my wallet so I can use it to buy moer fuel.:-X21

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of the delete trying to prevent the silicates from coolant clogging the oil cooler again. That would be my luck, once taken off I would get reinspected! I think I will flush the ford coolant out and put in ELC.

Deleting the EGR cooler will not prevent the oil cooler from pluging from casting sand. The oil cooler is before the EGR cooler in the cooling system and will have the same coolant flow with or without the EGR cooler.
