What to look for...thinking of purchasing a '94 F350 diesel
 

I'm going to look at a truck shortly, '94 1 ton dump, 50kish miles, 7.3 IDI with 5 speed. Other than rust (I'm in the Northeast US), anything to watch out for on these beasts? Clutch has already been redone.... as has a bunch of other work.

normally,you want to check to make sure the coolant has been properly maintained.however with such low miles,i wouldn't think twice about not buying it if i found no SCA levels in the coolant.however,you'll want to learn all about diesel coolant supplements and get on this after ownership.
many fret about how they start when cold etc.but imho,all that stuff is easily and pretty inexpensive to remedy anyway.
even never owning a diesel before,i knew this much,and bought my truck that started poorly when cold without fear of being able to fix it.with all the help i found here,it was just a matter of testing glow plugs,fuel lines,fuel flow etc.pretty dang basic engines.

Thanks! I own 2 diesels, but they are tractor and backhoe. Thankfully they tend to just run:)

I hope to have a good handle on the real condition over the weekend, and then have to decide if the 8k asking price is worth it (with V plow, and it is 4x4).

id say if she's solid with just 50k on the clock,has a plow,is 4x4 and a dump as well,im going to guess this is a dually truck too then.so that makes it an f350 cab and chassis dually 4x4 w/dump and plow.
8k is a nice bargain.V plows and dump bodies don't come cheap,even well used.
you'd be pretty hard pressed to set one up just like it with those miles for that kind of $..........i know.;)
i wouldn't even think of letting mine go for that,and i dont sport the more expensive D60 front axle.
sounds like you'll make out ok.;)
