No problem, I thought everyone would like to watch. Now I see it up on the site, and I get no credit. }>

Watching it now...

Just finished watching the show and the one biggest thing that stuck out in my mind was that during the 150K simulated mile lab testing, they tested the engine for approx. 300 hours and changed the oil every 50 hours. The 50 hour oil change equaled a 28,000 mile oil change interval.

This engine is pure beast!!!!!!! Hopefully Ford will spin some commercials off of this 30 minute segment.

There should be no more questions about ecoboost oil changes. :)

I think I enjoyed the 24 towing at full throttle the best. Reaching speeds of 100 mpg (sustained) and they said the turbos were spinning nearly 200,000 RPMs the entire time with no breakage....insane...

I think there should be little doubt about the engine's durability and longevity after this as well. I guess time will tell but I'd consider one.

I will probably torture mine a hair less than that, with a few more oil changes!:D

How was this test done? 150K miles in 300 hours is 500 MPH. Are you sure that it wasn't 3000 hours at 50 MPH? This would equate to a 2500 mile oil change interval.

I can't confirm the actual amount of hours but I do know that 150,000 miles to start out were done on the engine only and not the truck. It was pushed extremely hard during that time. But again, I don't remember what the actual hours were with the engine running.

The test was 300 hours with oil changed every 50, which are the hard numbers. The engine itself was hooked up to a dyno and ran solid.

What speed (rpm or mph), load, etc... was considered for the 150,000 miles is anyone's guess, but again the miles can vary based on transmission gear ratios, axle ratios, RPMs, tire size, etc. So I can only surmise it simulated 150,000 miles of use with 28,000 oil change intervals (I know 150,000/28,000 ≠ 300/60 , but it's what they said in the infomercial).

Oh, and here is video you can watch online, in segments, though it is not complete as the program shown on NBC was:

No you got it right the first time. This was nothing more than a publicity stunt. I want to see how the engine and its components hold up over 150k miles and at least 10 years. The whole test was great PR but thats about all its good for IMO.

So you think Ford should wait ten years before releasing it to market, and then be behind everyone else, or you are going to wait ten years before you buy one?
