quick 8.8 build question

For those of you who have been into the 8.8. I know I need an inner pinion setup bearing, but do I need setups for the others or are the shims opposite of the D44 so I can press on new bearings and shim it afterward? I'd like to have the setup bearings I need made up before I pull the rear end so I don't have holdups like I did on the D44.

The shims for the carrier are external to the bearings. They go between the outer portion of the carrier bearings and the case.

In the photo below you can see a rather thick shim sticking up on the left side between the case and carrier assembly:

Awesome. So the only setup I need is the inner pinion bearing. On my way to get a bearing now to make a setup bearing. Thanks!!

Good luck! :-drink

The 8.8" is pretty easy to work on. It's just a matter of having some decent tools and time. A large breaker bar or a big impact gun come in handy too :-jammin
