dissconnecting the EBPV good idea?

I have 2000 F-250 automatic It seems to be only getting 13-14 mpg. I have heard that dissconnecting the EBPV might help. Is this a good Idea? I heard that is damages the automatics. Is there anything else I could do to help get my mpg's up?

Mine has disconnected (unplugged at the pedistal) for over a year now. I haven't noticed any problems related to it being disabled.

Excursions and Kalifornia trucks have issues. Mine threw a CEL light when disconnected. Do you have a Glow Plug Relay or a Module? If module, it is the Kalifornia one and might throw a CEL

Are you sure not thinking cleaning the EBPS tube (Exh Back Pressure Sensor)? The tube is prone to getting clogged and some have noticed mileage gains after cleaning it.
The EBPV (valve) is different subject. Unhooking it should make no differnce either way.

One way to check. Put the tube in your mouth, pucker up and blow.

To clean it: Get a good length of weed whacker line and stick it in and see if it gets stuck. If not and you feel you have gone the whole length of the tube, hook the free end to a drill and spin it around a bit and see if there is a lot of catching. Then follow the advice in the paragraph above.

Thread hijack - Can anyone tell me what the EBPS signal is used for? Does it adjust the mixture under different load conditions, if so, how? I just cleaned my tube, and wonder what the science is behind its function.

Last I spoke to Jody of DP-tuner, I think he said that he uses the EBPS values for fueling.
