Ticked off and confused, B&M shift kit in a E4OD

Started putting a shift kit in my 93 f250 today and have been dismayed since the start. I was curious if anyone on here has installed one that could provide some insight. I tried calling B&M but they are closed during the weekend which is the only time I have. I was curious about the accumulater and main valve body springs. The factory acc. springs have a large spring with a small spring inside them. The instructions arent clear as to if both the large and small springs are replaced or if the small spring is inserted into the new spring and goes back in. Other question is on main valve body. My valve body matches the one pictured for the 96-97s. Once again it isnt clear if you remove the factory springs and install the spacer only with no springs or what. Im ticked off and B&M lost my business on this one. I thought they were a better company than this. Wish I had bought the Transgo or braumman or however its spelled. But anyone who can lend some experience would be greatly appreciated. Oh one more thing to vent on. The kit was incomplete, it didnt have the electrical module in it that ties in the wire loom to boost the pump preasure. Once again really ticked. Need to be driving my truck not scratching my head over missleading directions. :-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-arrgh:-huh

I put a B&M shift kit in my 4R70W with no problems , the instuctions were very good , the kit i used was street/ strip , or towing , so there were different springs depending on what you wanted , they were color coded , so you don't use everthing that comes in the kit , you can go online to B&M and get the directions , its not that hard if you know what your doing , it sounds like your in over your head ,.....Lew

from my experience the B&M kits dont come with an electric module to boost the line pressure...

I just thought it did because on the instruction manuals parts list it lists a electronic module. And it states in the instructions to use either the module or install the spring in the pump. As I said before its not the clearest instruction manual I ve ever seen. I understand what springs go where and how the kit works. What I don't understand is in the accumulator and valve bodies the old springs have a large spring with a small one inside of the larger one. It is not clear to if you replace the large and small spring or put the small spring in with the new spring supplied in the kit. Just don't want to put it all together and it not work properly. Thanks for the replies

if i remember right, the replacement spring eliminates both inner and outer factory springs

Ok thanks, I went ahead today and assembled everything by the instructuions and the trans shifts as it is supposed to. I guess I was just overly paranoid. Any way, as I stated earlier the kit did not have the "electronic module" as listed in the parts list. I went ahead and started the truck inorder toget the air out of the valves and move it from my driveway. The truck immediately went into limp mode and has a code 624 electronic pressure control solenoid circuit fault. Is this the result of the module not being installed to boost line pressure or something eles. I am at a loss untill the "module" gets here and I can install it.

Did you ever resolve this? I just put a kit in my 95 f150 and it shifts so darnhard it isnt funny. I don't think I have the OD light flashing but never really looked for it.

I swapped the stage 2 for the stage 1 springs with little to no difference and I also tried removing the jumper and re installing it, yet again no difference... I'm thinking I have something wrong

take it to a tranny shop and have them do the work. I had my TransGo shift kit installed by a shop since there is some fine tuning that is necessary with that kit. this was 2yrs ago and it did help some but still not how i want it. I will be getting an updated valvebody from ThePunisher over on FSB. its a drop in swap and from i have read its far better then any kit you can buy.

how pricey is the punisher valve body?

Kemicalburns 10-17-2011 02:32 PM

I believe $200 if i recall. but the feedback i am getting is very positive.

also if your running tires larger then 31's you need to reprogram your PSOM

im planning on removing the b&m shift kit from my e4od. my question is can i just replace the springs with the stock springs and leave the spacer plate that i had to slightly enlarge a hole in? will that slightly larger hole make a difference? im having a hard time finding the new plate. but i can find springs easily

It is not clear to if you replace the large and small spring or put the small spring in with the new spring supplied in the kit

In each accumulator you replace the 3 factory springs with 1 from the kit. (so 9 come out in total and 3 go in)
