Tailgate Interchange
 

I just put a rather large dent in my tailgate (thank you very much work).

I was looking on line for a replacement skin or entire unit. I like the look of the new style with the Super Duty embossed into the sheet metel then accented with chrome.

Question is I have a 2000. Best information I could find is that thru 2007 they were the same, then in 2008 the switch was made. Will a 2008 fit a 2000? I was able to find dimensions up to 2007, but nothing on the 2008 to compare to.

If you search the forum, you should find the answer. The tailgate will work just fine, but there is a small part you need to buy. Right off hand, I forgot what the part is, but you can get it at the Ford dealer. I'm sure someone will post what it is. But if you search the forum, you should find it. Good luck.

It fits, but it is not a bolt in swap. The 2008+ trucks have different hinges. You need to get the hinges also, drill new holes, attach them to your bed, then install the tailgate.

Or was it just one hinge? I forget.

One hinge. Also tail gates from regular bed f150 trucks (not stepside or super crew) from 1997-2003 will be a direct swap to superduty trucks 1999-2007. And up to current model year with the afore mentioned hinge
