main bearing ID help
swapped in a 6.9. Cranked engine over with glow plugs removed. 6 revs then clunk. Pulled new engine found melted piston #8 and bolt in #2 cylinder. Cylinders were .030" over, now .040". Bearings looked good until I went to re-assemble, #4 has a divot and looks like it got hot. Crank looks good. All mains are .010 under. Trying to figure out if the thrust bearing is wider than stock so I can get right parts. Numbers bearings are
1 08 .010 U/S D E 1804269C1 LOWER D E 1804072C1 UPPER So would these be STD flange or longer as the book list it? Any idea brand? Have picture of crank journal and bearing damage but don"t know how to attach. Pictures are in gallery. :-X25 |
I think when they turn a crank .010 under, they turn the thrust surfaces as well. I might be wrong, but i'm sure some one with more knowledge will chime in. Only thing i know for sure is, you can assemble it with new bearings and check end play. But you have to buy new bearings. I just bought complete bearings for mine. they didn't offer a thrust surface size option. mine are .020. thats why I think everything is turned together.

Main Bearings:
Front, front intermediate, rear intermediate, rear: E3TZ-6333-B .010. Center (thrust): E3TZ-6337-B .010. |
I miked the crank to be sure. I bought the .010 main and std rod and installed them. Checked my clearances .003 mains, .0025 rods, .002 end play. All is good. Thanks
