Stock ford coil volts

How many volts are they?

Im looking at gapping my plugs farther, and see some of the aftermarket ones are 48-49k volts.

Im hoping to get to .055 on the gap. And i see that the sixlitre tune up requires a aftermarket coil.

I have heard the OEM coil is plenty strong and was wondering if it would push a .055 gap without issue.

The OEM coil is plenty strong and would push a .055 gap.
But it is the plug wires that you have to think about. The higher the voltage the more likely it will cross-fire.

Thanks, what is the voltage of the OEM coil?

As much as 40K volts.

OK so I put it in. Works great! Now MSD's web site wants to sell me an adapter in order to go with the 5527 as opposed to the 8227. Harness, MSD 6 to Ford TFI - 8874
but I don't find that harness necessary. The connector I have fits in the 5527 just fine. It doesn't take up all of the space of the slot, but the forks line up and connect fine, the clip even clips on there fine. And as you can see by the one they sell it has no clips. So, I'll save the $10 for the price of the connector plus shipping and the $14 in over inflation of asking price of connector, plus the $xx.xx in what they are asking for shipping on top of that.
