3.31 rear end

So i'm seeing here basically that the HD tow package on the expedition is a bigger radiator, a bigger tranny cooler, and a 7 pin connector, and a 3.73 rear ratio.

this limited I may get does not have that, but i can put that stuff in later and i plan on getting the intake/ MAF, tuner, exhaust, so i figure it should be good to tow my 700gvwr trailer? It would only be on short New England trips, maybe a max of 500 miles maybe once or twice a year. In a year or two I will be pulling it with a new diesel pickup.

so what's people opinions on towing? appreciate all quick advice, I may be driving this thing tomorrow!

Just an FYI, the HD towing package doesnt include the 3.73 gears.

My 08 Limited has HD towing pkg and 3.31's. Towing rates I believe are the same though.

Do you tow with it? If yes, what kind of performance are you seeing. My camper is 24' and is 7k gvwr so I figre with the upgrades I'm planning on, it should handle it fine.

Nope, not yet. I barely get to drive it = Wife's DD.:'(

From what I heard/read it will downshift more often with the 3.31's. Ask around I'm sure others have towed heavy stuff with them.

700gvwr trailer? 700 pound trailer? Won't need HD tow for that.

3.73 axle was not part of HD Tow on my '07 XLT but I think 3.73 was all that was offered that year. The max tow rating is now the same for both available axles but I'm happy to have 3.73 for my 5000 pound trailer.
