What to look out for

I have a line on a 62 unibody. What should I beaware of when looking at it? Are the any issues that stand out that I should avoid ? Also are parts easy to find like the 46-60 trucks ?

1) Rusted core support
2) Rusted cab supports
3) Rusted cab roof and drip rails (tough to repair)
4) Rusted floor boards
5) Rust.

Good luck!!

Oh - parts for the 40-60 trucks can be had at most of the same suppliers we get Slick parts from.... (Carpenter, LMC, NPD, etc....)

Check the floors, drip rails around the roof, radiator support around where it mounts to the frame and the cab mounts. Most parts are around, check out the suppliers on the site here and others like LMC, Dennis Charpenter and NPD.

The most important piece is to check the torque box. If this is gone it is a PITA to repair.

It provides the main structural stregenth to the cab box substructure.

If this is gone on a uni i pass on it.

Hey Garbz for us unibody neofites what is the torque box. Is that part of the cab and box and do you mean gone as in rusted out or where the heck did it go. Always interested in learning something new about these trucks.
