2007 Expedition stuck in park
I have a 2007 Expedition and is stuck in park. Truck will not start. Any ideas?

Page 265 of your owners manual...
If you cannot move the gearshift lever out of P (Park) with ignition in the ON position and the brake pedal depressed, or when the ignition is in the OFF position, it is possible that a fuse has blown or the vehicle’s brakelamps are not operating properly. Refer to Fuses and relays in the Roadside Emergencies chapter. If the fuse is not blown, perform the following procedure: 1. Apply the parking brake. 2. Turn the key to the OFF position. 3. Remove the access plug on top of the steering column. 4. Using a flat-head screwdriver or similar tool, move the brake-shift interlock actuator spindle toward the left, apply the brake and shift the transmission into N (Neutral). 5. Start the vehicle. 6. Reinstall the access plug. Do not drive your vehicle until you verify that the brakelamps are workin |
a little jiggle....
I checked the brake lights and they are working....I jiggled the floor shifter and hit the brakes a couple of time and the truck started.....stopped and started the truck a couple of time without any trouble....while doing this I moved to revese and drive and parked. Then took it around the block and turned it off and tried it again and it would not. Jiggled the floor shifter again a couple of time and it finally started. Any ideas...

You need to check the linkage on the transmission.
[IMG]https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=34151&.jpg[/IMG] In the photo you can see a yellow clip at the upper right. That is where the shift cable is attached to the selector. The shift interlock switch is in the black plastic housing below the clip. If the lever does not stop in the correct position the interlock will produce the conditions you are experiencing. You can remove the clip and then move the selector to neutral. Have some one hold the shifter in the neutral position and replace the clip. Now try to start the vehicle in with the shift lever in park. It sounds as if the shift cable may stretched and the selector is not locating correctly. |
Could snow and slush build up and allow it to not go into park? We had a very warm day and all of the side streets were full of wet snow and slush. We had a very hard time getting it into park when we got home. Then I let it sit and it started....ice and snow melted? I took it out again in the slush and snow and I had the same problem. Roads are dry now going to try again and see what happens......
