Digital Dash

Has any one of you done this?

DAKOTA DIGITAL DASH 73-79 FORD PICKUP TRUCK VFD3-73F-PU - eBay (item 250774120291 end time Feb-22-11 03:53:40 PST)

If the short cut doesnt work I appologize. It's a digital dash for the 73-79 Ford Truck on Ebay. Pricey at $579.00, but kinda cool...I think.:)

Herblin 02-19-2011 11:12 PM

It's listed on broncograveyard.com for 549.00 I was thinking about putting one in till my truck burnt to the ground ... I thought it was cool too though

Not my thing.... I'm an analog gauge kind of guy. And since I do fiberglass and plastic fabrication for a living, I'm looking forward to making a fresh set on my '77

Not me. I stick with the factory look.

I got it, I like it, its BA, everyone comments on it, easy to read, reliable.

I don't like living in the past when it comes to technology. Its bad enough we live in an ancient time where we still have to open doors manually and don't have effective planetary defense.

i agree with f800... updating is always good when its tasteful. i would keep my gauges bec theres nothing modern about my truck at all with 2wd manual EVERYTHING it would look sorta out of place in my truck.

ive seen them. like em a lot! i may install them myself in my truck one day. Ive never been a digital gauge fan, but it just looks right in this circumstance.

I have considered something similar, only using an existing set up from a Ford Probe with the sensors/pickups from the same vehicle. Just as something to play with, a lot less expensive and even more modern. I was going to try this with our 91 Ranger PUT. I'm ptretty sure that it would work and look really neat. Probably about $50.00 from the U-Pull-It yard.

Did it on my Bronco. I like the updated look and the more accurate technology over the factory setup. Put larger tires on, no problem just calibrate the speedo. When I bought mine I passed on the ebay seller and went straight to Dakota. If there were any warranty issues it would be much easier to take care of.

I did it. After pricing up all the analog gauges and trying to figure out where to put them, this was about the same price and maintained the "concept" of the dash. Very easy to see everything.

I'm with you on that. I'm not against newer, more accurate gauges or anything like that. I'm just not a fan of digital gauges, period. My truck isn't an 84 Corvette. lol. Even most high end vehicles don't have digital gauges so we must not be alone on this, but it is just personal preference.

A question for Ranger429 - what drives the speedo? Cable or an add-on electric sensor? My speedo drive gear is shot and NLA. I'm considering other options, one being doing nothing (due to the high price) :~)

Thanks,
Paul
