Will Not Start
I have a '96 F250 with a 460, the wife started it the other day started to back out and it died. She said it sounded like it ran out of gas (she was on her way to a gas stating), so i put gas in it but it will not start (yes gas in tanks).
I have spark and 36 psi on the fuel pressure so any help would be appreciated. |
are the injectors firing ? is the distributor turning ? hows all of the ground and electrical connections ?
all that is good, grounds that i have found i cleaned, distributor turns and there is spark like i said, the injectors are firing,
wonder if it jumped timing ? if you have fuel and spark then whats left !
did you pull your plugs? make sure they are not fouled. chk them.

timing was brought up by a couple of people I know locally and i am going to check that tomorrow morning thanks for all the leads |
how many miles on the engine ?
there are 250,000 on the engine
did you try to shoot ether in it and see if it does anything? dont mean to sound ridiculous if it does, but i know id be trying anything. to me its an air or timing issue. maybe the ecm? not much exp. with a 460 tho, actually none to be honest. just hoping you can get it going, been in your shoes and its frustrating, my old 83 302 did that and it was the timing gears. hope thats not your case.
we tried either, I am hoping it not an ecm
well finally got it running, it was a combination problem believe it or not. Even though I had spark it was not enough to start it so replaced the coil and it would start with ether but would not stay running. Started looking at the fuel lines and decided to change the filter just for the hell of it found out the fuel line had a small hole in it. Thanks for the help
