1964 Ford F100 Steering column and gearbox

Just bought a 1964 ford f100 and pretty much the only thing it needs is a new steering column and gear box. Any one know where I can get one. This is my first ford so I'm a little lost on where to get quality parts for it. Any help is appreciated.

Why does it need a column and steering box. Describe the means and it may be other things exasperating the issues.

Expect to pay 4 to 500 for a rebuilt box. The column can be rebuilt with available parts from ford or aftermarket.

While obsolete, all the internal parts of the M/S gearbox can be found NOS. Sometimes, only the steering shaft's bearings/races and sector shaft bushing need to be replaced to correct the 'play' in the wheel.

The upper/lower steering column bearings (2-C3DZ3517A) and sleeves (2-B1AZ3518A) are still available from Ford. Both the 3 speed manual & A/T shift collars have been reproduced.

If a 3 speed M/T, and the shift lever is binding up between 1st & 2nd, the parts (bushings/insulators) to fix this problem can also be found NOS (New Old Stock).

Somebody replaced the original steering column and gearbox with a newer model and it is WAY to long. I'm practically driving with my chest. Was looking for the original or one of very similar lengths. Sorry I wasn't more specific originally.

You need to dive a bit deeper in to the truck and confirm it is a 64. Is the truck a Twin I beam or a straight axle?

Post the vin number.

The 61 to 64 steering box is an integral shaft type and nothing else remotely fits unless it was upgraded with a Toyota conversion.

Can you elaborate a little more on the Toyota conversion? I'm stationed in Germany and the truck is with my dad as he is doing all the work for me while I am over here.

power steering

Hello, I was wondering if you were able to do the Toyota conversion for power steering on your 64 F100 and is so would you please share the details. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
Tyronza
