C-6, Short or Long Tailshaft With Devorced Transfercase

I'm putting a C-6 in my 72 High boy, with a devorced transfercase, and i need to know it I have enough room to get away with with using a long tailshaft. The C-6 i have already has the long one in it, can i get away with that or do I need to find a short tailshaft and output shaft for it?

I'm in the process of doing this to my "Highboy" now, After several months of looking I found a 72 F250 4WD C6 with the correct tail shaft, I have a friend who switched one 20 years ago and he used a long tail shaft C6, he had the shortest drive shaft you ever saw and he said it worked fine except at higher speeds it had a vibration in the drive line. He is a mechanic by trade and said it was because the drive shaft was so short. That's the long answer, the short answer is Yes it will, but not recommended.

I would say it's not so much that the driveshaft is too short, it's because it's at too much of an angle being so far back. I too would go with the short tailshaft...a bummer, I know, because changing the tailshaft means taking apart the entire transmission at it comes out through the front.
