new engine hood lift struts

My engine hood lifts were barely working. they would hold the engine hood up 'sometimes', and they certainly would not lift the hood on their own. A wind blowing the wrong way would cause the hood to slam shut.

17 * 2 dollars and 90 seconds later I have 2 new hood lift struts.

What a difference. Hood lifts itself open and it takes effort to close it.

It does make a huge difference. Mine decided to give up the ghost right before I did my injectors so replacing them was the 1st mod that day.

Dealer-only item, I presume?

Though I don't currently need them, would you post up a part number for those that do, and so we'll have it for the future?

Ed's gotta' get himself back into his groove so someone can get these ordered from him.

Thanks,

Pop

The ones I got are made by SACHS. The "Lift-O-Mat'.

Part number SG304029

$17 at Pep Boys.

All you need is a small flat screwdriver to install. Have a helper hold the hood up. Use the tip of the screwdriver to pry back (lift) the small metal clip. Then pull the strut off.

The new ones just pop into place, and the metal clip self-locks itself.
