Hi, I have a 2006 F250 and noticed that the passenger rear brakes were making noise. I removed the caliper but I'm unable to take the rotor off,as it needs to be replaced. I've sprayed it with WD40 hit it with a mallet and still can't get it off??? any info or direction would be appreciated, I've never had any problems with other brake replacements but this is my first F250 is there anything differ? thks fatboywpg <!-- / message --> <!-- controls -->http://images-2.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/...c/progress.gif |
Back off the parking brake pads.
They are a separate drum brake and the inside of the rotor acts as the drum.

I had to use a hydraulic 3 jaw puller on mine. If you have to end up going that route...be careful. Those rotors will fly when pulled with a puller.

Be sure to loosen the parking drum brake. There's a cutout on the back of the assembly - like the way we USED to adjust drum brakes.

For mine I ended up using a large maul to bang it off. Several hard wacks to break the seal. I new they were being replaced so if they got damaged it was no big deal.

My backing plate was so rusted.......
......1999 in upstate NY, that I had to replace both of the backing plates. Ford only item to the tune of $370- a piece. They come complete with pads, springs, etc. mounted.
