Unusual Power steering fluid leak 2007 f350
 

We have had unusual cold weather here in Texas. Lows of 5 Degree and for past two weeks below freezing. It got to 50 degrees yesterday.
Now the problem, last eve I looked at the front of my 2007 F350 and a slow drip of power steering fluid was going on the ground. Hour later a big puddle on the ground under the drivers side below the bumper. I opened the hood and the cap on the power steering tank was leaking oil out. Looking in the tank, it was completely full and running over the top opening as I took off the cap. I replaced the cap and started the truck and no power to the steering wheel at all. Wheel will not turn even 1 inch.
The truck has been setting for a week during the snow and ice.
What in the world would make the fluid all run out over the top of the tank and have no steering power at all. Never had this to happen on any car or truck?

I would say water found it's way into the reservoir,froze and pushed fluid out as well as blocked the pump inlet.

Thanks for the reply. One person said it might be the Hydroboost. I am not familiar with that part. The overflow on the ground looks like about a quart of redish color fluid.
Simular the color of transmission fluid. Thats a lot of fluid on the ground based on the size of the PS tank.
I called a Ford dealer service head and he said he did not know what could have caused it.
I have no PS power to turn the steering wheel with the engine running.

Is your brake fluid reservoir still full? Don't know if it's possible, but maybe a seal in the hydroboost went out and let brake fluid drain into the power steering fluid side, causing the PS fluid to become way overfilled.
